    Description

Vintage1946 Zenith Table Top Radio Model 8H034. No S-11619
Designedby Charles and Ray Eames. Made in USA.
    AM/FMHi Band/FM Lo Band. 8 Tubes. Measures 15" x 7" x 8.5". Itis the first FM tabletop radio.
Nicewood finish, cloth insert and bezel.
Radiois being sold as is. It appears completely original and has originalcord. The original cord has breaks and splits thru the jacket and shouldbe replaced. Radio appears to be in good cosmetic condition with littlewear/nicks. I did not try to turn the radio on but there is nothing glaringlyobvious to why it would not work. I was hesitant because of the cord.

During the mid 1940s the FCC was in a state of uncertaintyasto which of two FM frequencies it would permit as the standard for FMbroadcasting. Consequently some radio manufacturers (such as Zenith)temporarilyincluded two different FM bands on their sets. The broadcasting of both bandssimultaneously was very brief. Ultimately the high band won outrendering thelow band obsolete. The introductory price for the 8H034 was.95 – a heftyprice for a table radio in 1946 (Almost 00 equivalent in 2021).
