A scarce blue and white transferware pearlware Plate - Shipping Series - circa 1815 - 1820 -
A rare Staffordshire shipping series plate printed in medium blue. Frigate 1 (previously called the Shannon), with a sailing ship in a square panel on a ground of fruiting branches and shells. A superb item in excellent condition.
Finely potted and a rippled blue glaze. Unmarked as is usual for this highly sought after series.
Good Condition - a couple of pencil tip sized faults around border and on the back of the plate (mentioned for accuracy) probably from time of manufacture. Crazing and wear along edges from age. It has a very interesting blue color and has a bit of coloring from age. One old, dark fleabite or flake/chip on the back of the rim, not visible from the front.
Minor areas of transfer loss. Exhibits signs of age such as surface wear and weathering. As they are part of the description, please enlarge all photographs to better ascertain details and condition.
