Condition Notes: crack/piece chipped off on left bottom rear of case, crack in center of right rear side case , some light scratches and scuffs throughout. Center grill lose.

The Shapleigh Hardware Company 1936 catalog, page 2000, describes the model 40 Kadette Jewel radio as having a brown bakelite cabinet with two-tone grille. This is a solid color tan grill with no marbling that gives a two-tone appearance to the radio. This was the cheapest basic version of the radio. Measurements in the Shapleigh catalog did not include knobs.

Model 41: walnut bakelite with agate grill.
Model 42: mahogany plaskon with tortoise grill.
Model 43: ivory plaskon with alabaster grill.
Model 44: chinese red plaskon with coral grill.
Model 45: black onyx plaskon with jade grill.
Model 46: orchid plaskon with moonstone grill. (Today's collectors call this lavender)
