Description
Here is a 1935 Philco model 59C antique tube radio.  According to Philco information on the Internet, there was an earlier model with a different cabinet design.  Here are some observations on this radio:
I checked the tubes on my antique tube tester.  The 80, pair of 77's were high, and the 42 tube was just into the acceptable green zone.  A couple of electrolytic capacitors have been added a long time ago, and most likely are bad.  There are other places with black electricians tape as well.
When I plug the radio in there is the immediate 60 Hz hum coming from the speaker.
There is a square of veneer missing on the top center of the front, and another one on lower left has been glued, but is coming loose.  Also on the back of the top some veneer is coming loose and needs to be glued.  The pointer that indicates the frequency on the celluloid grid (cracked but complete) is missing.  The cord is badly frayed in several spots, but no bare wires are visible.
There is a paper glued on the inside of the case which says:  Part No. 101559, Final Insp. 5 4 28, Run No. #1.  And there is a plate on the chassis which says:  Philco Radio / Superhetrodyne and a large group of patent numbers.
Because of the age and condition of this radio, I am selling it As-Is, withough any guarantees whatsoever.
Buyer is to pay an additional for FedEx USA shipping.  If you live closer to Wisconsin than Maine, California or Florida, shipping might very well be less in which case I will refund you the excess.  I normally ship by the next day.
