This is an exquisite antique Staffordshire transferware miniature toy dessert plate circa 1825, originally part of a child’s toy dinner and dessert set. It measures 4-
3/4 inches in diameter,
transfer printed in rich
country cobalt blue
, it is decorated with a striking botanical pattern of roses
and
prim
rose
with a simple
ch
ain border trim.
The plate is marked with the pattern name DRESDEN FLOWERS as well as the Minton reserve c1820-1830. Made in the Staffordshire potting region, the pattern is illustrated in Lorraine Punchard's "Playtime Pottery & Porcelain" as well as in Doris Lechler's "English Toy China”.
The plate is in great condition, especially considering its age and use by generations of children. There are no chips, cracks, or repairs. Minor typical firing imperfections. A lovely example of a rare early English floral pattern. The decoration and detailing is first quality.Sold as described, as shown.
