    Description

Lovely Staffordshire England plate with the "Batalha Portugal" stamp on the back. The plate dates from 1840-50. No English makers stamp or markings except for the letter L on the back side.  The plate depicts what I believe is the magnificent Monastery of Batalha in central Portugal which was originally built in the year 1388. (see Batalha Portugal history on Google) The plate has a beautiful flower and leaf border.  It measures 9 5/8 inches across. Has an old brass removable wall plate hanger which will be included. In very good preowned condition, does have some surface scratches. No chips or cracks.
