    English Pearlware Childs Miniature Floral Tea Set
    possibly Hackwood, Staffordshire England c1830
    This
    is a
    miniature
    partial toy tea set. The set comprises:
    Teapot with lid, 4 inches tall, 5 inches long (chip inside lid)
    Creamer, 2-1/2 inches tall, 3-1/2 inches long (flake inside rim)
    Three Cups (1 hairline) and
    Three Saucers (enlarged stilt marks on foot).
    The little
    teapot and creamer
    stand
    on 4 little bun feet
    and the teapot has a dolphin-shaped handle.
    The cups are handleless.
    Decorated with
    a pretty country
    floral motif
    . Exquisite
    abundance of flowers
    , a beautiful example of early 19th century miniature transferware.
    Typically, the set is unmarked. Based on the form, the maker is possibly Hackwood in the Staffordshire region of England. Similar sets have also been attributed to the Swansea region. One of the earliest wares intended for children to play with, used to instruct them in proper table manners or for a playtime tea party or simply to decorate a dollhouse table.
