Description
Title: 'Cowboy Wearing Large Chaps'5x7
digital photograph printed from antique c. 1900 glass plate negative in my collection. Also available in 8x10 and larger sizes (up to 30" x 40"). Contact me and I'll create a separate listing for your requested print size.
NOTE: The sample shown is a low resolution scan of the image--your photograph will be full resolution and will not have the copyright watermark on it. While the image has been digitally restored as much as possible the 'flaws' are part of the history, character and charm of these 100+ year old glass negatives. The negative is shown for reference only and is not part of the listing.
Print Surface: Archival museum quality Kodak ENDURA Lustre 'E'. Lustre surface is rich and saturated and has a slight sheen and fine texture but not highly reflective like gloss surfaces. Lustre and optional CANVAS surface showcase the nostalgic charm and character of these vintage images to best effect. Please contact me for canvas print prices.
Shipping Time: Please allow 6-9 days for your custom order to be printed and shipped.

Traditional BW Gelatin Silver Prints
Exceptionally archival and each print is unique!
This image is also available as a traditional gelatin silver photograph hand-printed directly from the glass plate negative in my darkroom (available in 5x7" size only, .95). Gelatin silver photographs are exceptionally archival and
will last
several hundred years
when processed properly and even longer if chemically toned. The paper and chemistry used for gelatin silver photographs much costlier (the papers are embedded with actual silver) and much more time-consuming to produce than digital prints as each is processed by hand. This also means
no two gelatin silver photographs are the same
as chemistry, processing time, temperature, etc. vary with each
Having custom printed traditional BW photographs for 30 years--nearly all of it in the fine art photography realm--a great deal of experience goes into each hand-made photograph. This kind of printing is an exercise in patience, craft and expertise--and is fast becoming a 'lost art'.
