    Description

Cobalt Flow Blue Child Toy Tureen
    CLOUDS & VINES
    William Hackwood Staffordshire 1835
This fine child's miniature toy tureen is in an abstract pattern we love and rarely see. It was originally part of an early toy dinner service, standing 1-1/2 inches tall ad measuring just 2-1/2 inches across with a deep center well and tab handles, transfer printed in a rich cobalt flow blue, finished with a thin pearlware glaze, abundantly decorated with a graceful floral vine and clouds, a fine example of the Victorian love of nature.
    The
    tureen
is unmarked. The pattern name is
    un
    known and
the maker is not documented but based on the form
    and previously owne marked examples
    , it was most likely
    made by
William Hackwood c1830-1840 in the Staffordshire region of England.
The antique dish is in very good condition, with a tight a hairline mostly visible only from the inside of the tureen, with no chips, cracks or repairs. Transfer wrinkles and firing imperfections, original to the making. Shiny bright with clear and crisp decorating. This wonderful floral pattern is richly detailed in an earthy and festive pattern. A perfect gift for the horticulturist and botany lover or for any collector of early miniature children's transferware dishes. Sold as is.
