    Early Childs Pearlware
    Toy Transfer Printed Platter
    VINE AND BERRIES
    Staffordshire England c. 1835
    This is a stunning miniature transferware
    platter or meat plate
    , circa 1835, originally part of a complete miniature children's tea set or
    dollhouse
    dinner service.
    Measuring
    5-1/4
    inches long with a scalloped rim,
    decorated in
    brilliant berry red,
    finished with pearlware glaze decorated with a delicate overall trailing sheet print of ripe red berries on a vine.
    The
    tiny
    platter is unmarked. The pattern is found in the Milbourn book
    Understanding Miniature British Pottery & Porcelain
    (p. 109). The pattern is attributed to William Hackwood, or its successor Cockson & Harding one of the fine potteries in the Staffordshire region of England c 1835.
    Other potteries in Staffordshire and the northern regions were known to use this pattern, as well.
