Antique SPRIG Tea Set c1820-40 Staffordshire Teapot Sugar Creamer Soft Paste Hand Painted
A beautiful early 19th century Staffordshire Sprig tea set.  The teapot has a ruffled collar rim and foliate handle & spout.  The pot with its lid in place is 9" tall and 12 1/2"spout to handle's outside edge.  The sugar bowl is graceful and large, 7" high with lid in place X 7 1/4" side handle to side handle.  The creamer is has the painting of a twig with leaves hiding inside its spout.   5 1/4" at highest point X 5 1/4" from spout tip to outside handle.  Staffordshire was sturdy pottery made specifically for those who couldn't afford fine, delicate and expensive hard-paste porcelain. The patterns and colors of Staffordshire were chosen to lend color to the home. Sprig is a simple,  delightful design that presents a fresh appearance.   Its appeal and popularity lasts and lasts.  Conditions of the three pieces is overall good, with some imperfections as noted in the Condition Report below.  This set can be used as intended with confidence.  It also displays beautifully.
Condition Report: All hand painting decoration is in beautiful condition:
Teapot:  lid has 1 short thin hairline and a flake to the edge of the rim 1"w x 3/8".  Pot has 1 thin, stable hairline from rim down to body, less than 2".  This in no way affects the pot's capability to hold liquid. Its  applied handle is fine; spout has what looks like a small glaze line about 1/4" near join to body at bottom.  A few pinhead black dots from the original firing.
Creamer:  has 2 stable hairlines, very slender, 1 from where body hits base going up less than an inch, the other at spout going down into body about 1 1/2". No chips, flakes, stains or discolor.
Sugar:  lid had a thin hairline down one side, non-threatening. Bowl has no hairlines, chips or flakes.  Some minor, pale discolor to the rim collar.
None of the imperfections are threatening or prohibiting to normal use of these 3 pieces. You can use the set as intended and you can display it with pride.
